Articolul de față a fost alcătuit prin aportul celor doi autori, pe baza strânsei lor conlucrări în vederea identificării mormântului, deshumării și strămutării solemne a osemintelor
episcopului Nifon Niculescu, de la București la Galați, în perioada 2019-2021.
Abstract: Conținutul articolului este dedicat memoriei episcopului Nifon Niculescu al Dunării de Jos, în cadrul evenimentului prilejuit de exhumarea osemintelor sale dintr-un cimitir civil și strămutarea acestora în cripta ierarhilor de la Dunărea de Jos. Acțiunea comemorativă a avut loc după aproape un veac de la trecerea sa la cele veșnice în urma suferințelor provocate de rănirea într-un atentat comis în Senatul țării.

Summary:The article presents from a historical and symbolical perspective the importance of the work and searches which led to the exhumation of the earthly remains of the former bishop of Lower Danubius, Nifon Niculescu (1860-1923), from the „Șerban Vodă – Bellu” Cemetery (July 2021) and the preparations for their translation into the crypt of the Archbishopric Cathedral in Galați (September 2021), with the blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church and the efforts of the Archbishopric of Lower Danubius. The work could be considered in itself a historical resource of the 2021 commemorative year dedicated in the Romanian Patriarchate to those who departed this life. The event was an occasion of profound manifestation of gratitude towards the memory of the commemorated hierarch, who was a great missionary and founder of places of worship in the region of the territory of the eparchy at the time, which stretched from Galați to Constanța.
