Abstract: Clerici și credincioși din București și Ilfov au participat în ziua de 27 aprilie 2024, la tradiționalul Pelerinaj de Florii din Capitală. În acest an, traseul a fost unul diferit față de cel obișnuit și a cuprins opriri la Biserica „Sfântul Anton” – Curtea Veche, Paraclis Patriarhal, și la Crucea brâncovenească de la baza Dealului Patriarhiei. Procesiunea s-a încheiat pe Colina Bucuriei, unde Preafericitul Părinte Patriarh Daniel a sfințit icoana purtată în procesiune, i-a binecuvântat pe cei prezenți și a rostit un cuvânt de învățătură în care a reliefat înțelesurile duhovnicești ale Sâmbetei lui Lazăr și ale Pelerinajului de Florii.

Summary: On Saturday, April 27th, 2024, keeping the tradition resumed in 2008, the priests of the Archdiocese of Bucharest recalled with piety, joy and solemnity, on the eve of Palm Sunday, the journey of the Savior Jesus Christ to Jerusalem and His triumphal entry into the City of Jerusalem. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the country attended this impressive procession, carrying with emotion the consecrated branches of willow and juniper in their hands. The pilgrimage route in Bucharest started from Radu Voda Monastery and ended at the Patriarchal Cathedral, where the pilgrims were welcomed by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The Feast of Palms is the Feast of the Lord’s Entrance into Jerusalem, ending the 40 days of Lent and beginning the fast of Holy Week, or Lent of the Cross, as it is also known. Palm Sunday also opens the most important week of Easter preparations, known as Holy Week, after the 40 days of fasting. The Week of the Holy Passion is beginning, in memory of which, the churches celebrate every evening the Matins of the Holy Week, services in which the faithful celebrate Christ on the way of the Cross, until death and Resurrection. Pilgrimage is a blessing for the city and a symbol of people’s friendship with Christ.
