Title: The ordination of Father Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest

Abstract: Părintele arhimandrit Timotei Aioanei a fost ales Episcop-vicar al Arhiepiscopiei Bucureştilor, cu 34 de voturi din 42 de voturi valabil exprimate. Noul Episcop-vicar al Arhiepiscopiei Bucureştilor va purta titulatura „Prahoveanul”. În ziua de joi, 30 octombrie 2014, la Catedrala Patriarhală, a avut loc slujba hirotonirii întru arhiereu, şi a fost săvârşită de Preafericitul Părinte Daniel, Patriarhul Bisericii Ortodoxe Române, împreună cu un sobor de ierarhi, membri ai Sfântului Sinod.

Summary:On the 30th of October 2014, Father Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei was invested with sacerdotal functions as candidate nominated to be an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest. The ceremony took place in the patriarchal Cathedral of Bucharest. The Divine Liturgy and the investment with the episcopal functions were officiated by His Beatitude Father Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, assisted by a group of concelebrating high ecclesiastics. Within the frame of the service of the investment as Bishop, Father Archimandrite Timotei Aioanei answered the questions of His Beatitude and the present hierarchs by a profession of faith. Further on, the candidate was invested with the sacerdotal functions as Bishop, being given the specific sacerdotal attire: the sakkos, the omophorion, the enkolpion, the cross and the mitre. On the issue of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Father Varlaam Ploieșteanul, patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop, in his capacity as secretary of the Holy Synod, read out the Patriarchal Official Document according to which the new hierarch was acknowledged as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, also bearing the title of Prahoveanul, and therewith presented the responsibilities of the new Auxiliary Bishop. The Patriarch of Romania made the new Auxiliary Bishop a present of the mantle and the pastoral crozier, both marks of his hierarchical service, and His Grace Timotei blessed the faithful, in his new dignity.
