Abstract: Academia Română și Muzeul Național al Literaturii Române au organizat, în ziua de 22 septembrie 2021, în Amfiteatrul „Ion Heliade Rădulescu” al Bibliotecii Academiei Române, sesiunea științifică „Neagoe Basarab – 500 de ani de la moarte“. Au participat ierarhi, membri ai celui mai înalt for științific şi cultural din România, clerici, profesori şi cercetători din diverse domenii. Delegatul Patriarhului Daniel la eveniment a fost Episcopul vicar patriarhal Varlaam Ploieșteanul. Evenimentul a fost transmis online în timp real şi a avut loc în contextul împlinirii, în 15 septembrie 2021, a cinci secole de la mutarea la Domnul a Sfântului Voievod Neagoe Basarab, a cărui dată de pomenire a fost rânduită de Biserica Ortodoxă Română în 26 septembrie.

Summary: On the occasion of the accomplishment of 500 years since Saint Voivode Neagoe Basarab departed to the heavenly dwellings, the Romanian Academy on a par with the National Museum of Romanian Literature organized, on Wednesday, the 22nd of September 2021, the Scientific Session around Neagoe Basarab – 500 years from his death. This event took place in the “Ion Heliade-Rădulescu” Amphitheatre of the Library of the Romanian Academy, and enjoyed the presence of the members of the Academy, hierarchs, historians, highly cultivated men, and also a diversified audience, fond of history, literature and culture. His Grace Father Varlaam Ploieșteanul, Patriarchal Vicar-Bishop was the Patriarchal representative to this cultural and scientific manifestation. Within the framework of this scientific session, remarkable personalities from the Romanian cultural, historical and literary space of today gave lectures and short speeches, and an album-book was launched, headed: Neagoe Basarab ’s Advices to His Son Theodosie, published by the Publishing House of the Archdiocese of Argeș and Muscel, in Romanian, English and Greek languages; this prominent work was financed and supported by the Government of Romania. The true gem of Saint Neagoe Basarab ’s foundations is the church of Curtea de Argeș Monastery, also known as the Archepiscopal Cathedral of Curtea de Argeș, a monument of mediaeval architecture, in which diverse architectural styles are harmoniously combined, remaining as A torch of Resurrection to the end of the centuries, as His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel presented it, being inspired by the Lord, at the anniversary in 2017 of 500 years from the consecration of this holy
dwelling. Prince Neagoe Basarab was canonized in 2008 by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
