Abstract: The commemoration of the National Hero Avram Iancu on the occasion of 150 years since he died plays the prominent part of contributing to the promotion and completion of our history, as well as to the education of the manner in which we refer to the memory and the national history […]. All along the time, the Romanian Orthodox Church took a special care of the heroes of the Romanian people, having them in the remembrance of every Holy Liturgy. Whenever we do homage to the heroes of the Romanian people, we therewith pay reverence to the dignity of the Romanian faithful, sacrificial and fighting people and whenever we commemorate them and have them in remembrance from generation to generation, we assert the consciousness of the national unity and the national continuity.
Anul acesta comemorăm împlinirea a 150 de ani de la trecerea la Domnul a Eroului Național Avram Iancu (†1872), considerat cel mai mare erou național al românilor din Transilvania, cu merite excepționale în afirmarea identității şi a drepturilor naționale ale românilor, cel care a condus Revoluția română din Transilvania între anii 1848-1849.

Summary: We commemorate this year 150 years since the National Hero Avram Iancu (†1872) departed to the Lord, being looked upon as the greatest national hero of the Romanians of Transylvania, having exceptional merits in the affirmation of the Romanians’ national identity and rights, he who led the Romanian revolution of Transylvania between 1848 and 1849 […]. Avram Iancu has the great merit of catalyzing the Romanian people of Transylvania round the sacred ideals of liberty and affirmation of the national consciousness. His name became soon a strong symbol of the national freedom in the conscience of the whole Romanian people and therefrom his being declared, on the 17th of November 2016, as Hero of the Romanian Nation represented only the validation of an incontestable truth […]. We are convinced that those who sacrificed themselves for the Romanian people are blessed by God for their humble and sacrificial love, because the freedom and the unity of a people are God’s gifts but they have to be cultivated, well-kept and protected.
